Bundle Information: Starting out around 5 years ago, as an internet radio station set up by dj paddy freeform, universal vibes has grown into a new platform for deep electronic music across genre boundaries, encompassing web radio, syndicated radio shows, editorial content and events. 2007 is the year we decided to step up the game, and to this end we are proud to announce the inception of universal vibes records....launched in the summer of 2007we will release a series of digital only releases by artists such as tim scott, surra, Jafar, andy touchfingers and paddy's own productions and collaborations. in october we'll test the waters with a vinyl sampler followed early 2008 with a CD compilation of the digital releases..... This vinyl sampler represents the freestyle music policy of the label, and draws together some of the highlights from the first few digital releases. First up,and forthcoming on the label is Surra, with the hypnotic downbeat electronics of Diotima, a lazy but tight groove with a hint of jazz an a soulful, electronic flavour. Surra is an up-and-coming London based DJ, producer and remixer. His remixing and collaboration credits have included: Jeremy Ellis, Max Cole and Spengler on labels such as Amalgama, Other Worlds, Eye 4 Eye and Beyondjazz. His music has seen worldwide airplay, with support from the likes of Benji B, Nick Weston, Kev Beadle and the forthcoming digital ep for universal vibes is a killer This is followed by Slow burner by Tim Scott, a midtempo, disco infused bomb featuring a live bass and filtered guitars and effects, the track bounces along on a solid chunky groove that bumps and swings. The track has a certain scando/balearic flavour that will sit well in a variety of DJ sets Finally we go on a house tip for Jafar and Bobby Strobes Latin Shades, raw and punchy house music, sounding a bit like a new jersey track from way back when updated for the naughties, the groove builds and builds with little brass stabs and string flourishes keeping the interest going strong til the end of the track These tunes are taken from the first few digital releases and will be included on the Universal Vibes compilation early next year, alongside more new material. .There will also be further digital releases in the coming months leading up to the compilation, including singles from APKO, Poussez, and Paddy Freeform himself. Keep an eye on www.universalvibes.com for more info. To mark the launch of the label we’ll be throwing a party at Herbal in Shoreditch on 9th November featuring a whole host of label artists across two rooms. More info at www.universalvibes.com |
